Before telling us what to do, God always tells us who and Whose we are. What does God want you to remember? You are His chosen. You are holy and dearly loved. By remembering this, we can become love because he first loved us.

Everyone had someone next to them. God's plan is for you to have someone next to you... a group of people called the church who you can share your life with and grow in your love for Jesus.

In the letter of 1 John, the writer uses two examples -- one positive, one negative -- to demonstrate generous love. He uses the example of Cain and Jesus. He then makes the point that generous love has open eyes, open hearts and open hands.
